Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said in March that it intended to announce a start date for U.S. sales of its diesel-powered pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles by early April, Bloomberg News reported. The announcement had not been made by the time this issue went to press in mid-April.
The vehicles are currently undergoing testing in the United States, said Pawan Goenka, president of the India-based company's automotive division. Mahindra had planned to begin U.S. sales in the first quarter of this year, Bloomberg said.
Mahindra plans to sell a two- and four-door pickup and a four-door SUV in the United States. All of the vehicles will be powered by a 2.2-liter common rail diesel that the manufacturer claims will deliver 30 miles per gallon highway across all three models.
Mahindra is India's largest SUV manufacturer. It is a division of Navistar.
